The Reset Button of Repentance

Problems keep piling on, stress increases, until finally we break. Once broken we rest from our labors and eventually gather ourselves together and begin again. This tormenting cycle can be very frustrating all the way up until the point of reset. When life is brought back into perspective and we are able to continue onward, the feeling of rest and peace gives us the push we need.

Similarly, a person is capable of committing a certain amount of sin until they break. They become broken due to the weight of the sins that have piled on. The reset button that brings relief during these times is repentance. Repentance has been explained in many ways but my favorite is this explanation of Christ.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

"Come unto me, all ye that sin and are heavy laden with sin, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you (repent), and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
